Gundogs Express Our Policy of Ethics

Gundogs Express was formed by a working/breeding & stud dog kennel, who promote the breeding of the very best and healthiest of gundogs.  Our own dogs are extensively DNA tested for many of the health problems found in many modern gundog breeds.  The pedigree lines of our dogs contain many working field champions carefully chosen for their genetic qualities, health, strength, intelligence and temperament, breed standard and working ability.  If you are a gundog breeder or someone who wishes to buy a working dog and share our values and vision for dog welfare then Gundogs Express is for you.

Kennels Advertising Litters and Part Trained Dogs
·     All dogs advertised must be Kennel Club registered.
·     The Kennel Club and British Veterinary Association’s Health Scheme recommends that all working dogs are tested for the major inherited diseases and DNA tested for other inherited diseases and afflictions known to affect the various breeds. At Gundogs Express we strongly agree with this sentiment and recommend that all advertised puppies and dogs to be healthy - and at least one of the parents to be tested 'Clear' or  'hereditary clear' by parentage for any health problems specific to the breed. Ideally both sire and dam should have the relevent health checks in place.
·     All dogs/puppies advertised - details are to be truthful and failure to display correct and genuine information will lead to the removal from this website any advertisement that’s content is considered fraudulent without the reimbursal of any fees.
·     All kennel owners must show a good standard of welfare and care for their dogs as laid out in the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

GuGundog Express Stud Dog Service Standards
All Matings are best carried out in a suitable, private and quiet area away from any unnecessary disturbance. Failure to do so may result in both dogs experiencing stress which in turn may cause complications with the desired mating.
Ag A stud fee; do you expect to be payed cash up front? Do you want pick of the litter?  You may agree a set stud fee on completion of mating or subseqent matings? Many European breeders do not have a set stud fee and prefer to charge an amount for each successful birth of a pup, for example 1 pup £50, 8 pups born = £400 stud fee, 12 pups = £600 stud fee.  Explain to the owners of the bitch the terms of the agreement and what they can expect from you should the mating be unsuccessful or partially successful, i.e. subsequent matings.
A  A nice cup of tea and a chat with the bitch’s owners can work wonders to calm their nerves and give them confidence in your knowledge and abilities as a successful stud dog owner.  This will also give you time to explain the procedure and answer any questions they may have.
